Contemporary Christian pop/rock band Big Daddy Weave has released The Lion and the Lamb from its album, Beautiful Offerings. For the record, I absolutely love this song–it is my favorite Big Daddy Weave single, for the following reasons:
1) Singable melody. From the instantly catchy verse melody to the irresistibly anthemic chorus to that ridiculously delicious bridge melodies, this song will have you singing it from the first listen.
2) Worshipful lyrics. Both vertical and horizontal in its declaration of praise, The Lion and the Lamb offers a variety of memorable lyrics that will make for great devotional material and reflection.
3) Unique perspective. Reminiscent of MercyMe’s The Hurt and the Healer, The Lion and the Lamb combines the twin visuals of Christ both as Lion and Lamb, offering a distinct yet scriptural perspective that is rare in CCM.
4) Killer hook. Come on, man. Everyone is going to sing, And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb. That hook? Absolute brain candy. You know that’s the mark of a great song, and churches everywhere are going to be singing this song for a very long time.
5) Passionate vocals. Mike Weaver has delivered some amazing vocals over the course of BDW’s 14-year career, but there’s something special in how he delivers in The Lion and the Lamb. Whether it’s the selection of a key that will be reachable for most worship leaders, or the truth he’s declaring, there’s an honesty and earnestness in how he delivers The Lion and the Lamb, and people will believe it.
Big Daddy Weave is one of those Christian bands that have been around for such a long time that when they come out with new product, it feels like I’m holding them to a standard uniquely their own because of the level of quality. With The Lion and the Lamb, they’ve raised their own bar, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ll say it again: The Lion and the Lamb is my favorite BDW single of all time. That’s how good it is.
THE LION AND THE LAMB Lyrics
Big Daddy Weave
He’s coming on the clouds, kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break, as broken hearts declare His praise
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He’s roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before You
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sin of the world, His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Oh every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
So open up the gates, make way before the King of kings
Our God who calls the saved is here to set the captives free
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He’s roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before You
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sin of the world, His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Oh every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Oh who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Oh who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Who can stop the Lord?
Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He’s roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before You
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sin of the world, His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Oh every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
