Contemporary Christian rock band Hawk Nelson’s Crazy Love, which drops February 15, 2011 in the United States, has a title track that is now going for adds at Christian AC. Based on Cornerstone Church pastor Francis Chan’s book of the same title, Crazy Love by Hawk Nelson deals with a topic the band rarely sing about: going all out for God because of how wildly He is in love with you. With over half a million albums sold in an impressive four-album career, Hawk Nelson couldn’t have picked a better time to step out in faith and make this kind of song.
Musically, Hawk Nelson’s Crazy Love pretty much keeps in line with its style. Driving guitars and a frantic drum characterize the song, although I must admit the chorus is a lot catchier than I would’ve expected from previous Hawk Nelson singles to which I’ve been exposed. I’m excited for the prospects of Crazy Love, especially since Tooth & Nail Records seems to actually want Christian AC to play the song. I’m curious to see if Jason, Daniel, Jonathan, and Justin can cross over. I think Christian AC should embrace Hawk Nelson; there hasn’t been this kind of shot-in-the-arm for AC in a while.
