Former The City Harmonic lead vocalist Elias Dummer has released a new song, “Heartbeat,” the second of three preview songs from his upcoming his new Integrity Music album, “The Work (Volume 1).”
Thematically and musically, “Heartbeat” is a bit of a departure from most of the singles released by Dummer’s former band. Most known for songs like “Manifesto,” “Mountaintop” and “Holy,” The City Harmonic had great singalong melodies, tinkling piano lines, and hypnotic drumbeats that invited listeners to sing along in worship.
While the introspective tone of “Heartbeat” underscores its theme of following Jesus, the pleasing, simple acoustic arrangement highlights the finger-picked electric guitar and Dummer’s strong voice. Fans of TCH needn’t worry, will appreciate the soaring arrangement that kicks in after the song’s easily singable chorus.
HEARTBEAT Lyrics
Elias Dummer
Give me Your heartbeat
Give me heaven
‘Til everything I do
Follows the rhythm of Your footsteps
As I walk after You
Give me a faith that says to mountains
“Move,” and that’s what they’ll do
Give me You, my Jesus, You
Take these hands
Help them open doors to heaven
In my heart, Jesus, make Yourself at home
Whatever it takes
Change what You need to change
I’m Yours
‘Cause Jesus, You are worth it
Everything You’re asking for
You alone are worthy of my worship
Breathing in and out to bring You praise
With every single heartbeat
With every single heartbeat
You alone are worthy of my worship
Breathing in and out to bring You praise
With every single heartbeat
With every single heartbeat
Whatever it takes
Change what You need to change
I’m Yours
‘Cause Jesus, You are worth it
Everything You’re asking for
Whatever it takes
Change what You need to change
I’m Yours
‘Cause Jesus, You are worth it
Everything You’re asking for
