Contemporary Christian pop-rock band Unspoken is a multicultural band comprised of four members: Maine natives Chad Mattson and Jon Lowry, together with Mike Gomez, whose roots can be traced to the Dominican Republic, and Ariel Munoz, who hails from Puerto Rico. Unspoken has played with such big names in Contemporary Christian music as Third Day, David Crowder, Casting Crowns, TobyMac, and Pillar.
The single, , is now rising up the Radio and Records Soft AC/Inspo chart, one of the most-added and most-increased in terms of airplay. The band’s sound reminds me a bit of Rascal Flatts meets 33Miles, which bodes well for the group because those two groups have been embraced by both the country and Contemporary Christian markets. I like the chorus and harmonies of Who You Are, and think that Unspoken is a bright new band that we should all watch out for.
WHO YOU ARE Lyrics
Unspoken
I know that look you’re given like you got something to prove
‘Cause I have walked for miles and miles in that same pair of shoes
You refuse forgiveness like it’s something to be earned
But sometimes pain’s the only way that we can learn
You can never fall too hard
So fast
So far that you can’t get back what you lost
Where you are
It’s never too late
So bad
So much that you can’t change
Who you are
Oh
Oh
You can change who you are
Oh
Oh
You believe in freedom, but you don’t know how to choose
You gotta step out of your feelings that you’re so afraid to lose
Everyday, yeah, you put your feet on the floor
You gotta walk through the door
It’s never gonna be easy, but it’s all worth fighting for
You can never fall too hard
So fast
So far that you can’t get back what you lost
Where you are
It’s never too late
So bad
So much that you can’t change
Who you are
Oh
Oh
You can change who you are
Oh
Oh
Let the ashes fall wherever they land
Come back from wherever you’ve been
To the foot of the cross to the feet of Jesus
The feet of Jesus
You can never fall too hard
So fast
So far that you can’t get back what you lost
Where you are
It’s never too late
So bad
So much that you can’t change
Who you are
See, at the foot of the cross you change who you are
At the foot of the cross you change who you are
Oh
Oh
You can change who you are
Oh
Oh
