Contemporary Christian singer and songwriter Beckah Shae has released her new single, Overflow, the carrier single off her upcoming worship album, Rest. Dove Award nominee Shae returns to the Christian adult contemporary sound of Here In This Moment for this outing, a pretty piano worship ballad whose simplicity belies the honest passion and beauty of its lyrics.
Coming from Shae’s previous singles, including the absolutely off-the-hook Life, this may be a bit of a shock(lee, see what I did there?), but this peaceful, calming sound – as Shae calls it on her Facebook page – still highlights her God-given voice. There was never any doubt that Shae is a brilliant singer, and the restraint she demonstrates on Overflow only underscores the true focus on the song – God! – and magnifies Him in her worship. That we may “rest” in Christ through her music is not out of the question; that we can enjoy His presence through her music is a blessing. Absolutely gorgeous.
