Building 429, “Where I Belong”

Contemporary Christian pop-rock group Building 429 has released Where I Belong as the second single off its 2011 Essential Records opus, Listen to the Sound. The twin Jasons – Roy and Ingram, lol – penned Where I Belong, a track that sings of valuing God over the world. Some people take issue with the message – JesusFreakHideout, for example, thinks it’s “dismissive of creation instead of cherishing it as a gift,” and I can see where the reviewer is coming from. Nevertheless, I still think Where I Belong will speak to many people, and God can and will use it for good.

WHERE I BELONG Lyrics
Building 429

Sometimes it feels like I’m watching from the outside
Sometimes it feels like I’m breathing but am I alive
I will keep searching for answers that aren’t here to find

All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong

So when the walls come falling down on me
And when I’m lost in the current of a raging sea
I have this blessed assurance holding me.

All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong

When the earth shakes I wanna be found in You
When the lights fade I wanna be found in You

All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong
[x2]

Where I belong, where I belong
Where I belong, where I belong
