Grammy Award-winning gospel act Mary Mary has released Walking as the carrier single off its new album, Something Big; the track is now #3 on the Billboard Gospel Songs chart, up two from last week’s #5. Some radio stations, however, are starting to play other album tracks, in particular, the incredibly radio-friendly track Are You Ready, now impacting at Christian radio, according to AllAccess.com.
Here’s a bit of a surprise, and I actually can’t believe this is true, but guess what? This is my first Mary Mary feature. I’ve loved Erica Atkins-Campbell and Tina Atkins-Campbell since Shackles (Praise You) was released in late 1999/early 2000. To date, it’s still my favorite urban-gospel track of all time. The Mary Mary discography is full of fantastic tracks – I Sings, In the Morning, The Real Party, Yesterday, God in Me and Heaven – and Are You Ready is poised to become another one of their classics. The sisters’ voices soar in this midtempo song that challenges people to put their faith where their mouths are, and to actually be sure they’re ready before they take a chance. I love it, love it, love it. Are You Ready should easily be another crossover hit for the Campbell sisters. Did I say earlier that I loved it? I’ma say it again, y’all, I love it!
