Contemporary Christian superstar Chris Tomlin’s I Will Follow is the first single off his new CD, And If Our God Is For Us… (sixstepsrecords/EMI CMG), which is set to drop November 16 2010. It will be the first studio album for Chris Tomlin Tomlin since his Christmas set Glory in the Highest, which debuted in the Billboard 200’s Top 10 and featured Tomlin contemporaries Matt Redman, Christy Nockels and Audrey Assad. (You know I love me some Audrey Assad.)
I Will Follow by Chris Tomlin was released to radio on August 23; a week later, Tomlin announced the album title via his Twitter account. I, for one, think that Tomlin’s previous single, Our God, off the latest CD from Passion, Awakening, is a stronger single than I Will Follow, but that’s primarily because I think Tomlin excels at horizontal songs that encourage the body of Christ to sing in unison to God (think Our God or How Great is Our God). Having said that, though, Tomlin appears to have the ability to do no wrong – I’m a little scared for Matthew West, for instance, whose latest, My Own Little World, seems to be a slow burn at Christian AC radio – and I’m sure I Will Follow will be another of Tomlin’s well-deserved topnotchers.

I WILL FOLLOW Lyrics
Chris Tomlin
Where you go, I’ll go
Where you stay, I’ll stay
When you move, I’ll move
I will follow…
All your ways are good
All your ways are sure
I will trust in you alone
Higher than my side
High above my life
I will trust in you alone
Where you go, I’ll go
Where you stay, I’ll stay
When you move, I’ll move
I will follow you
Who you love, I’ll love
How you serve I’ll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow you
I will follow you
Light unto the world
Light unto my life
I will live for you alone
You’re the one I seek
Knowing I will find
All I need in you alone, in you alone
In you there’s life everlasting
In you there’s freedom for my soul
In you there joy, unending joy
and I will follow
